“BOCC Accepts New Insurance Hikes” |
| BOCC Accepts New Insurance Hikes Posted: 04 Sep 2010 01:32 PM PDT Pugmire cited the Creek County Sheriff's Office for contributing a 7.4-percent rise in the cost of premiums to the county. "Where we are hurt this year in terms of the renewal figures is we have increased the auto units (number of cars) from 148-vehicles to 174-vehicles," Pugmire told Commissioners Dist.2's Johnny Burke, Dist.1's Dana Hudgins and Dist. 3's Roger Boomer. Pugmire also told commissioners that the additional 26 new county owned vehicles' physical damage coverage translated to an increased dollar cost in premiums totalling $47,000. Commissioner's inquired of Pugmire on how to control the single digit rise in rates from further expansion. Pugmire offered two explanations on the spot. "We can price a 2-year renewal (rather than the standard three year) policy especially on the Sheriff's vehicles, they become high mileage pretty quick. I have seen vehicles from District No. 3 on the list parked at the County barn with grass growing up into them," Pugmire said. Pugmire addressed the commissioners on the many tiered levels of costs and coverage of County plans for 22-minutes. Commissioner's voted to renew with Trident subject to changes in endorsement. Other Items Before the BOCC Commissioner's also voted to let 3-month bids for bridge and highway materials on Sept. 13, 2010. In a related matter Agenda item nine featured an engineering report from the firm of Mehlburger-Brawley on the state of 18-bridges in Commissioner Hudgins District 1. Commissioners accepted the report by voice vote. Agenda items three through six dealt with zoning matters. In the matter of re-zoning on, behalf of Jerry Hammock, for property located at 17089 West Highway 66 to request a change from A-1 Agriculture to C-2 Commercial General status. County Planner Irving Frank reported that the property was not in the 100-year flood plain and no protests had been lodged. Frank, recommended approval. Property owner Hammock commented. "No immediate plan for development. We have been approached by a chiropractor but we'll go with whatever the zoning will allow. It is approximately 1-flat acre and it is about the only flat acre of land in that area," Hammock said in open forum. Commissioners approved the zoning change. The second property matter before the BOCC was a lot split and rezoning matter at the request of Reuben Gann who was not present at the meeting. The matter is CCZ-1793 modifications and waivers for property located at 53721 West 1st Street. The County Planner related that the property was 13 miles west of Mannford with a Jennings address and very near the Pawnee County line. No protests were lodged and it was recommended to approve the lot split and rezone the property to RH-1 status. The owner of property west of Mounds was also seeking approval from Commissioners on a lot split for property located at 7513 West 191st Street South. Property owner Jack Carner made the formal request, but was not present for the meeting. The property was split into two tracts. Tract one at approximately 6.3 acres and tract two at 5.36 acres. No zoning change was sought. Commissioners approved the split and modification of waivers. Commissioners also discussed at lenghth with property owner John Elias his concerns with opening up a section line road to access his property. The matter was resolved by discussion alone and commissioners chose not to vote on the Elias matter. However Commissioner Hudgins voiced advice. "We recommend you talk with your attorney with your concerns on this matter," Hudgins said. Commissioners granted a formal permit request from the town of Kellyville concerning a gravity sewer line connect to the Schlumberger training facility on W. Highway 66. "We've gotten the permits from the highway department. This is to extend gravity sanitary sewage West of the rail road tracks. This is the last one that we need. The work is being performed by the Watco Company," said W. 'Chip' Cohrs with the Engineering firm of Mehlburger-Brawley. Commissioners approved the work that will parallel a county owned road located 2,082 feet West of Section 7, T17N, R11E. Commissioners adjourned to meet Tuesday Aug. 31 for a meeting of Districts 1 and 2 on the subject of the 81st Street Project.
