| Florida Auto Insurance Company, AGIC, Offers Savings through Preferred Provider Network Posted: 24 Feb 2011 11:36 AM PST Press Release Source: AGIC, Inc. On Thursday February 24, 2011, 2:36 pm EST SARASOTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Car accidents can cause catastrophic amounts of damage to both the automobiles involved and the people. While most Florida auto insurance companies offer preferred repair shop networks for damaged or destroyed cars, few cater to the needs of the more important aspect of auto accidents – injured people. Preferred repair shops allow auto accident victims to get their vehicles fixed at discounted rates. Auto insurance companies work together with these shops to provide customers with lower prices, often lowering deductible costs so that victims have to pay less out-of-pocket expenses. Similarly, many insurance companies partner with auto rental shops to provide temporary transportation to accident victims while their cars are being fixed. Most, however, do not offer these benefits to those injured in car accidents, forcing them to pay full price for medical care. "Just about all auto insurance companies offer preferred repair shops for your car or preferred car rental but none address the need for medical attention to those injured in the auto accident," said Vincent Payne of AGIC Insurance, the only Florida car insurance company that offers a preferred medical provider network. Most auto insurance companies provide policyholders with medical coverage if they are injured in an auto accident. Policyholders are required to purchase personal injury protection coverage for this purpose. This coverage is available when a person is injured in a vehicle, but only when medical expenses are over and above a certain deductible. For instance, if a policyholder has a $1,000 deductible, he or she must pay all expenses out-of-pocket if medical care costs are less than the deductible. AGIC offers policyholders a 50 percent reduction on the medical deductibles if they choose to receive care from a physician within the company's preferred medical provider network. AGIC utilizes the medical facilities of Physicians Group, LLC, which has 47 clinics throughout the state of Florida. Physicians Group focuses solely on providing comprehensive medical care for accident victims, and has received the Gold Seal from the Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, which is considered the gold standard in health care. "A preferred medical provider network can save accident victims a great deal of money on medical care," Payne said. "If you were to purchase an AGIC policy with a $1,000 deductible, then had an auto accident and needed medical attention – your out-of-pocket deductible would be reduced from $1,000 to $500 if you chose a Physicians Group clinic for treatment. The preferred medical provider network that we offer at AGIC can save policyholders hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars."
